Birds in the Sky
24” x 30” unframed, 26” x 32” framed. Oil on canvas.
Why did I name a painting “Birds in the Sky”? The background is a composite of constellations that are all, yes, you guessed it, birds. Constellations include the Apus (bird of paradise), Aquila (eagle), Cygnus (swan), Columba (dove), Grus (crane), peacock (Pavo), and the Corvus (crow). The constellations are gold leafed, reflecting light and adding to the experience of the painting.
Detail 1: The constellation, peacock (Pavo).
Detail 2. An early process photo - working out the arrangement of constellations. Astronomers please forgive me!
